Recreate the look: Miranda Kerr

Now I'm happy to admit that Miranda Kerr is my ultimate girl crush. She's just beautiful, and that hair! It's just amazing. Well today I purchased the Babyliss Volume Waves, which promises to delivery gorgeous soft waves and movement. And boy, does it deliver!

The large 38mm barrel doesn't provide so much curl to the hair, but if used correctly it will give you to-die-for soft waves. There are 5 heat settings, but personally I use whack it to full heat (200c). The barrel heats up really quickly and has a cool tip for you to touch as you're using it which is very handy.

Unlike other curling tongues, the clamp goes up the entire barrel. I'm not entirely sure why but let me explain how I use my Babyliss Volume Waves. After purchasing this I watched several YouTube videos on how to use this tool, including the official Babyliss tutorial. On all of the videos I watched the hair was wrapped over a single part of the barrel, meaning that the hair was also wrapped over itself. For me, this only created a slight flick at the ends of my hair and initially I was disappointed. However, I had a brainwave and so instead I wrapped the hair up the entire length of the barrel, with the end of my hair underneath the clamp in the very inner part of the barrel. This meant that the entire length of my hair received an equal amount of heat rather than just the bit I wrap around first. Using this technique I managed to create soft, bouncy waves that Miranda would be jealous of. All I need now is the face and body!

Barbara Daly Eyebrow Pencil

So we should all have guessed by now that I'm a bit of a bargain hunter. I prefer to buy lots of decent quality drugstore products for pretty cheap, rather than splash the cash on high end products. Well, I also have a confession... I use eyebrow pencil rather than powder! I can hear the beauty lynch mob after me already. I know, I know... everyone goes on about how you get a much more natural finish with powder, but I just find pencil so much easier to apply, longer lasting and actually, if you use it correctly you can have a really natural finish.

I've used the Barbara Daly Eyebrow Pencil from Tesco for a while now and I loved the colour. But then for some bizarre reason I thought I would switch over to a No.7 from Boots eyebrow pencil which I hated! Don't get me wrong, the packaging and application was great - it even had a handy eyebrow brush at the other end. It's just the I found the No.7 eyebrow pencil to be very 'ginger' in tone, and so didn't blend with m eyebrows at all. So during my trip to Tesco the other day (when I had only planned to buy chicken and came home with a mini beauty haul) I picked up the Barbara Daly Eyebrow Pencil in Dark. Dark was the only colour they had left, but seeing as I've recently gone brunette I though that would be fine, and it is!

The colour blends in perfectly with my eyebrows and gives a very natural look. The key is to not press down too hard and use small, quick strokes in a diagonal upwards direction. Also, don't apply too heavy colour to the inner section of your brow, naturally this is lightest part and if you went a bit overboard on this part you would have a good old scouse brow. It would be very handy if this eyebrow pencil had a brush on the end too, but we can't have it all can we?

I also have another confession. In order to test the longevity of this eyebrow pencil I actually slept with it on. Lynch mob number two is on its way! But seriously, this eyebrow pencil lasted until this morning with only a slight bit of wear on the outer section.

Do you prefer eyebrow pencil or powder? What products would you recommend? Let me know in the comments below.

Essie nail polish for only £1.99 - Whaaaaat?!

Laura from A Scottish Lass tweeted about 99p Rimmel lipsticks on fragrancedirect.co.uk so I thought I'd take a look. OH MY GOD... Why have I never seen this website before?

To cut a long story short I bought 25 products from this website and it only came up to £54! Bargainous! My beauty haul consisted of five Essie nail polishes (£1.99 instead of £7.99) and four OPI nail polishes (£3.99 instead of £11.00). I am seriously impressed. They seem to be discontinued colour ranges, but what does that matter? I also bought Rimmel Lycra Pro and 60 Second nail polishes for only 99p each and Revlon Just Bitten Lipstains for £1.75 each. I cannot wait to receive them in the post! Oh, and postage was only £1.99 for standard delivery!

Houston, I think I've found a new favourite. Photos to follow once they arrive :)

Tesco Beauty Haul

Oops! Rimmel Apocalips in Celestial, Stellar and Apocaliptic. Rimmel Lycra Pro nail varnish in Peppermint. Vivo Cheeky Cream Blusher in Bloom. Barbara Daly eyebrow pencil in dark. Along Came Betty Eye Primer. Along Came Betty All Concealed concealer kit. Along Came Betty Starlight Shine highlighter.

I've never used Along Came Betty products so I'll review them soon!

Rimmel Apocalips Lip Lacquer

So I finally jumped on the blogger bandwagon and bought 3 of the Rimmel Apocalips Lip Lacquers in 101 Celestial, 501 Stellar and 303 Apocaliptic. The reason I bought those three colours is because they were the only colours they had left! They have been flying off the shelves after being mentioned in tons of beauty blogs.

The lip lacquers are a cross between a lip gloss and lipstick and are extremely pigmented. They feel much more like a lipstick on the lips as they're not at all sticky and feel lovely and smooth on the lips. The applicator is great, you get just the right amount of product and it's very easy for precise application.

The Celestial is the most gorgeous, wearable pink where as the Stellar and Apocaliptic are much, much more vibrant. The Stellar is a pillar box red which will certainly turn heads and the Apolaliptic is a fun bright pink. Please note, I haven't altered the below pictures in any way, the colours really are that vibrant!

Rimmel Wake Me Up Foundation and Concealer

I bought the Rimmel Wake Me Up Foundation and Concealer last week after seeing great reviews for both products on Boots.com and I'd seen the foundation featured in several YouTube videos. Both products are pretty cheap, with the foundation retailing at £8.99 and the concealer at £5.49.

I was especially excited about trying the concealer as several people had commented on the product reviews that it was a high coverage concealer and the best they've ever tried! If you have watched my make up routine video, you'll know that I despise my dark circles and so I'm always looking for an amazing new concealer. The concealer comes with a handy applicator tip, much like a lip gloss and I simply smooth this under my eye and pat it in with my finger. In my opinion, this concealer doesn't do an amazing job. It's okay, pretty mediocre. I wouldn't say it was bad, I was just expecting more. I will still use it every day along with my Clinique Airbrush Concealer as I can see that it does make a difference. I don't know, maybe it was just hyped up too much in the reviews

I'm really impressed with the foundation! It looks really dark in the bottle and on my hand, but it blends in so nicely and has a gorgeous citrus scent. A lot of the reviews on Boots were complaining that this foundation had too much glitter in it and leaves you looking like a glitterball/Edward Cullen lookalike, but I didn't find this to be the case at all, even in bright sunlight. My skin is normal/dry and this foundation gives me a lovely natural looking glow. The two pictures below show my face before and after applying the Rimmel Wake Me Up foundation. In the first picture, my freckles are evident and my skin looks a little dull and matte. In the second picture, you can see how the foundation has covered my freckles, though still looks very natural, and that I have a slight sheen to my face now. From now on, this is definitely my go-to foundation! I love it!

Revlon Top Speed Fast Dry Nail Enamel

So the sun was shining bright through my window whilst I was updating my blog layout and so I thought I'd also update my nail colour to a bright Spring colour. After rummaging through my nail varnish collection (would you like a nail varnish collection video?) I decided upon my Revlon Top Speed Fast Dry Nail Enamel in 601 Guava, which is a gorgeous bright coral pink. As far as I can see, this colour has unfortunately been discontinued but there is a number of other colours in the same range. Otherwise, it can still be found on eBay. Now these nail polishes seriously are fast dry, by the time you've finished the first coat on the second hand you can go straight into the second coat on the first hand. The nail polish smooths onto the nail very easily and the brush is of great quality.

I will update later in the week with regards to how well the nail polish lasts and any chipping, I'm hoping that the fast dry doesn't mean it compromises on longevity.

Update, I've had this nail varnish on for the last few days I have to say it's lasted pretty well. There is some wear on the tips of my nails (but I have been doing a lot of typing lately) but no chips. Pretty impressed.

I <3 Pizza Express

I'm feeling generous so I thought I'd treat the other half to a slap up meal at my favourite restaurant - Pizza Express! I love lazy Sundays!

Outfit of the Day

Hi guys, another outfit of the day post. I've cropped out as much of my messy bedroom as I can but you can still see some of it - sorry! So all I did today was pop to Tesco for some printer ink and curry paste so nothing special. I just threw on some jeggings, a vest and my new Miss Selfridge sandals/shoes (they're a bit of both, like if a sandal mated with a shoe!). I was going to wear my new pink blazer that you can see in my Primark haul but I thought I'd probably stand out too much and it is only Tesco after all! So I put on my burgendy blazer which I've finally got back from the sister-in-law (she borrowed it, fell in love with it and I didn't see it for a month).

I got a new toy!

Because I really want to make more videos I decided to treat myself to a lovely new camera. So I bought myself the Samsung ST200F which had really great reviews and takes HD video. So be prepared to see my face in HD from now on!

My YouTube Channel

So I just wanted to point you in the direction of my youtube channel which I've just started up. I've had this blog now for around 5 years though I haven't contributed to it all that much. I hope one day to be as popular as my favourite bloggers; dizzybrunette3, llymlrs and Zoella.

Please take a look at my latest video: My Make Up Routine Part II

Outfit of the Day

I really enjoy looking at Outfit of the Day posts so I thought I'd do my own today. I'm not going anywhere at all so I could have just thrown on some joggers and be done, but I like to make effort most days even if it is for nothing.

I'm very much a High Street girl, and I love a bargain. That's why today I'm wearing jeggings from Tesco, a white vest from New Look, printed Kimono from George at Asda, jewellery from Next and my new Claire's watch.

My new (High Street) arm candy

So I've been wanting a gold watch for a while now as I tend to wear a lot of gold jewellery when I'm going out (in a non-Pat Butcher kind of way). I have my silver DKNY watch my boyfriend bought me for Christmas so I didn't want to spend too much on a gold watch. I've been browsing around for the ages for a boyfriend style, metal bracelet watch and I finally found one - from Claire's Accessories of all places! It cost only £15 and it's great for throwing on when I'm wearing gold jewellery like today.

Latest in my Essie collection

I've been into the Essie nail varnishes since one of my favourite bloggers Dizzybrunette3 recommends them constantly in her videos. I was in Boots yesterday and thought I'd pick up a new colour. I've been coveting a very pale pink colour and so I picked up Fiji which is the most beautiful pastel pinky cream colour and I love it. You can see me wearing this colour in my latest YouTube video: http://www.youtube.com/user/niknak267

MUA dupes for Urban Decay Naked palettes

Wow, I've not posted in almost a year! Well, of course I have an essay due in next week so that means I am doing anything I can to avoid doing my essay, including shopping for makeup and writing blog posts.

On Monday I went to Superdrug and I picked up these Make Up Academy (MUA) eye palettes which are exact dupes for the Urban Decay Naked and Naked 2 palettes. The MUA palettes are cleverly called Undressed and Undress Me Too and they cost only £4 each! The Naked palettes are roughly £36 so that is a right little bargain. I've tried several colours from these palettes and I have to say I'm pretty impressed. The colours blend in well and last pretty much all day. I've really been loving the matte black eyeshadow in the Undress Me Too palette. So if you're in Superdrug any time soon, be sure to pick these little gems up!
