The large 38mm barrel doesn't provide so much curl to the hair, but if used correctly it will give you to-die-for soft waves. There are 5 heat settings, but personally I use whack it to full heat (200c). The barrel heats up really quickly and has a cool tip for you to touch as you're using it which is very handy.
Unlike other curling tongues, the clamp goes up the entire barrel. I'm not entirely sure why but let me explain how I use my Babyliss Volume Waves. After purchasing this I watched several YouTube videos on how to use this tool, including the official Babyliss tutorial. On all of the videos I watched the hair was wrapped over a single part of the barrel, meaning that the hair was also wrapped over itself. For me, this only created a slight flick at the ends of my hair and initially I was disappointed. However, I had a brainwave and so instead I wrapped the hair up the entire length of the barrel, with the end of my hair underneath the clamp in the very inner part of the barrel. This meant that the entire length of my hair received an equal amount of heat rather than just the bit I wrap around first. Using this technique I managed to create soft, bouncy waves that Miranda would be jealous of. All I need now is the face and body!
I love Miranda!
